City Profile Halifax
Halifax is considered as one of the safest cities in Northern America. The capital of the province Nova Scotia is situated on Canada´s East Coast, has about 360 000 inhabitants and one of the world´s biggest harbors. Short trips to the USA are very recommendable since the border of the United States is rather near. The beautiful surroundings, friendly people and several festivals attract visitors from all over the world throughout the whole year. Besides, there are many music and culture events, several historic sites, galleries and museums such as the Museum of National History. Nightlife is very lively as well: There is something for everyone among the bars, nightclubs and restaurants. Another highlight is Dartmouth lying on the east side of Halifax harbor. It is also known as the “City of Lakes” for 23 lakes within the city borders offer possibilities for canoeing, windsurfing, swimming and a lot more. Apart from that, Halifax has seven beaches at the sea, but average temperatures in summer are only 16-24 °C. Winters are relatively mild in return – best conditions for fans of aquatic sports.
